Tayler Dressed Himself Today

He was very proud of how well he matched his shirt and shorts. Must get his fashion sense from his dad ;)

I Am Not a Runner...

But I run. I don't know why. I don't like it. It's not fun. It's not relaxing. I don't feel good after. But, I do it. Mostly it's peer pressure. As a result of the peer pressure, I signed up for Ragnar's Wasatch Back Relay and spent a good 6 months stressing about it. I literally started having nightmares in February for a race that didn't happen until June.

The worst day in the preparations came when Ragnar made changes to some of the legs. And by some, I mean mine. I had agreed to leg 1, dreading the 18.4 miles, but thinking it looked ok. Then, a month or so before the race, leg 1 became 21.2 miles, the longest leg of the race. It meant I had to run a 7.9 mile leg, an 8.5 mile leg, and a 4.8 mile leg. I intensified my training and had more nightmares. I swore that when it was over, I was never running again.

Friday morning I ran my 7.9 mile leg in Logan. It wasn't too bad aside from the uphill last couple of miles that seemed never-ending.

Friday evening was the 8.5er, from Snow Basin to the bottom of Trapper's Loop. Hated every minute of it. Calf cramps, exhaustion...yuck. It was not fun.

Early Saturday morning I ran from Oakley to Kamas. All I can say was that when I finished, I was done running!!! It was an amazing feeling.

Tyson ran it with me, and it was so great having him there. He did amazing and ran some really tough hills and rocked them.

The finish line was fun with the whole team (minus our captains :( ). Thanks "We Only Count the Kills!" It was a blast!

So after the 21.2 miles, I signed up for another 2 Ragnars. I can only blame the endorphines. Once they subsided, I was stuck with the same dread again, although I finally found my reason to run. It's team relays. I didn't enjoy the running part of it (I know, I know, that's what I was there for), but I loved the event, the team, and the challenge. So look out Vegas, here we come!
